Guess what; I did another pop up card. You might remember I made one for a challenge in March. This one is the Bird Cage pop up that Karen Burniston featured in her videos. I got my inspiration and some very good instructions on how to construct the bird cage from Karen. To view the videos, follow the link HERE
The following pictures are of the birthday card I gave to my friend Tanya, who owns Stamper's Ink. See the side bar for a link to her store. In addition to Karen (mentioned above), Tanya is responsible for some of the skills I've learned in order to do a card like this. I'm very fortunate to have some excellent and patient teachers in our local craft stores!

I still have several April and May birthdays to do; then I need to start on the June birthdays. I can't believe it is almost time to start the mad dash to finish the Tim Holtz tag. Midnight May 31 is a week away. Yiikes! I'd better post this and get to work. See ya.

My Friend Paul's Birthday Card
My dear friend Paul had a birthday in March. I finally finished his card late April and manged to give it to him the first part of May. We're busy people and it seems like the first part of this year is no different. I tried out a few new ideas and used a LOT of ideas from classes I've taken with Teri at Scrapbook Unique and Tanya at Stamper's Ink. (see sidebar for links)
And, this is the side view of the card.
Here is a close up of the embellishment I made using a Tim Holtz tattered banner and glossy accents. The winged stamp is from Inkadinkado. I cut out the image, distressed it and replaced the clock face with Tim Holtz hardware.
This shows the top part of the inside of the card. I made the clock so it could be seen from both sides. I used the Tim Holtz Weathered Clock BigZ Die.
This shows the bottom part of the inside of the card. The saying is a Quietfire Designs stamp. I made the card so the image of clock on the inside could be seen from the outside through the clock window. I was drawn to the Graphic45 "A Proper Gentleman" collection because of this paper. It was perfect!
I didn't want to spoil the design of the card, so I added a pocket on the back to include an insert card on which I could write my birthday wishes.
Here is the money holder with the pocket watch fob.
The image above shows the box for the card at the top. Below that is the card. To the left is a money holder with a pocket watch fob. This was also included in the box with the card.

I've had a very dear friend visit from Corpus Christie and I and other friends have been having had a lot of fun this last week.
Consequently, I left the poor Tim Holtz half done tag hanging on the last post longer than I'd meant before putting the finished tag up. The following is what should have been posted if I had not been working right up to the wire!
I've vowed to do better on May's tag, but since it seems I'm not the only one behind (Tim's far busier than I, and the May tag is not on his blog yet). I guess I have a little "breathing" space.

Tim Holtz Tag Submission for April, 2012
Yes, here I am again, minutes before the close of this months submissions! Try as I might I just can't seem to get it together until the last day. Oh well, tomorrow is another month...
I don't have the ribbon on it yet, so the finished product will be posted in a blog post soon. But the clock is ticking and I have to upload to Tim's site NOW!

I Won the Challenge at Scrapbook Unique
After a second round of voting, I am extremely happy to announce I won the Challenge at Scrapbook Unique. Thank you to all who took the time to vote for me. I am very pleased to have won because the other entries were great and the contestants were so creative! Here is my winning entry.
Graphic45 Olde Curiosity Shoppe Card
I'm always behind. it seem and this card is no exception. It is for a very good friend and the best boss I ever had. Mary tried her best to teach me how to prioritize toward deadlines. She was a great mentor when I worked for her and I learned a lot. It does not seem fair to her that her birthday was last month and I'm just now getting ready to mail it. She will at least get it before Paul's card. (They share the same birthday and I'm still working on his--almost finished, though.)
As you can see, it is a Center Step Card. I modified a template from Splitcoaststampers that can be found HERE
At the end of this post, I list my dimensions for the card.
The image above shows the inside of the card.
The two images following show close up shots of the butterflies. I used Glossy Accents to get the sheen.
If you follow the directions on the Splitcoaststampers site you can substitute the following dimensions I used for the Center Step Card/
1. Cut a piece of cardstock 11.75" x 6.5"
2. Cut 2 slits 1.5" from each edge on the 11.75" length; the slit is cut up from 1.25" from edge to 7.125"
3. Score on 2 outside edges at 1.25", 2.5", and 7.125"
4. Score on inside panel at 5.875"

Tim Holtz for March, 2011
As usual, it is the last day of the month and I'm scrambling to get the Tim Holtz tag finished and posted to his website. Where did March GO?!!! Probably the same place January and February did. Oh well...
I veered slightly from Tim's original concept; I do not have the craft tags yet and I guess I was just in a different mood.
I started blending from the bottom up using distress inks: Tumbled Glass, Broken China and a touch of Stormy Sky. The middle is Mustard Seed and Spiced Marmalade. Top is Stormy Sky and Dusty Concord. I edged with Stormy Sky. Then, I flicked water and dried. The trees are stamped with Ranger Archival ink and the stamp is Impression-Obsession Cover-A-Card, Tree Line (CC099).
